Feature Feature #2: Distribution

Feature Feature #2: Distribution

When you go to buy a car you visit a dealership. These dealerships are rarely ran by the manufacturer. Instead they're generally a private company that buys vehicles in bulk. In very simple terms this allows the dealerships to get the vehicles cheaper while allowing manufacturers to move more units.

So how do dealerships get cars? Branches. A branch is typically an office/warehouse which deals with local dealerships. They take in orders, ship out vehicles and parts, and handle interaction between the dealerships and the company/factories. Think of them as the store which dealership shop at for cars.

Of course this is a very simplified outlook of a very broad field of distribution. Many companies do things differently.

Anyway you've just designed the greatest car ever! Now to get it into the hands of the general population!

First we go to the world map. Glowing dots represent locations with a branch, a factory, or both.

Hovering over a dot will give you a general idea of what's going on in that city. The name of the city is in the center of the upper bar.

Clicking a city will bring up the City Information window. This will give you details about the city.

Clicking the Branch button will bring up the Branch Window. This will give you minor details about the branch and allow you to make modifications to the branch.

To bring up the Distribution Window select the Distribution button. In this window we can set which vehicle to sell in this location. As well the price and priorities of the vehicle.

Shipping priority allows you to select which branch is the most important place to send the vehicle. This is helpful if you have a limited number of vehicles and want to sell in a place where you can charge more. You are limited to 1 Highest and 2 High priorities. Setting Low or Lowest will gain you more High priorities.

Pitch priority allows you to select which vehicle in a branch is the most important to sell to dealerships. This is helpful in clearing out inventories or moving more expensive cars over cheaper ones. You are limited to 1 Highest and 2 High priorities. Setting Low or Lowest will gain you more High priorities.

Selecting View Vehicle will bring up the detailed specs of that vehicle.

After setting a price and clicking add the vehicle is now ready to be sold to dealerships!
