[Not A Bug] Induction options missing
#1
Hello, i started a new game after a fairly long absence, but when designing an engine i noticed that the induction options have changed. I now can select none (is it the same as NA, or something different?), and all normal turbo's (except level 1 fuel oriented) are missing (only special turbo's like VGT, twinturbo, quadturbo are viewable in the research window... is this a bug? Or is it supposed to make people only use the supercharger?

Thanks

Which engine layout are you selecting?

I'll check it when I get into the office tonight. Double check Gasoline/Petrol and see if it is showing none or natural aspirated.

Also be sure you're on the latest version and verify cache and start a new game.

I've verified game files several times, i've started a new game twice, still the same results... afterwards i've combed through the game files: components.xml lists the old induction options, but FBS1_components.xml only only has 1 single turbo option (turbocharger fuel level 1), all the others are missing

Oh, that is by design. There is no need for multiple stages of sub-components since we now have bounty #59 Sub-Component Rating Range. Rather than picking multiple stages/generations of a design, the ratings just improve over time.

I just checked the game and could not duplicate getting "none" under induction except for Electric engines.

I am assuming you're confusing "None" located in the Hybrid section for Induction?

Also noted earlier, multi-stages for turbos and turbo "focus" were removed with the sub-component rating range bounty. That bounty allowed for sub-component ratings to gradually improve over the years, which removed the need for staging.

Adjustable turbo boost is a bounty, but hasn't been funded yet.

So, I am not seeing an issue here. I did take the chance to clean up the possibleInduction elements for engine layouts, removing removed sub-components from the list.
