newbie question!
#1
Hi

I am new to the game and have been playing it for a few days now and i think this is a brilliant game! i work in the Motor industry and work with many of the big Car Makers and i think this game is a great representation of how the car making industry works!

I have a question in that i have found that playing this game making just 2 models seems to be much more cost effective and i find that if i make say 5 models to be sold at the same time and the years go by and i replace the current models with the new replacements there is no easy way to fully discontiune the cars, for example as i go into the interface to set distribution i some times find there are cars still sat there from 10 years preivious that i no longer make and the only real solution is to go into each individual branch and delete them which if you have expanded a vast dealer network across the world takes a very long time!
it would be helpful if there was a way to get rid of these old models with just one click and it would do the same for the rest of your dealer branches.

I'm at work, so I cannot check the game to verify the correct names of menus and buttons, but anyways... In the huge mega menu (The calculator/pc-thing), under "auto commands" you have a button called "Stop selling". There you can choose the car you want to stop selling, and it will right away stop selling it in every branch you own. It also lists the build year, so that you don't stop selling the incorrect model year of a car.

Tridon is correct, use the "Stop Selling" command in the Auto Commands from the mega menu. To end production use, "End Production" in the RnD department. "Ending Production" does not remove the vehicles from branches in case you have reserves you want to run through.

Another useful feature is "Replace Model" this will allow you to replace one vehicle with another so you don't have set everything up. Useful for new model years and stuff...

If you have any left over vehicles you can scrap them from the "View Factory" panel in the world map.

okay thats great cheers guys, sorry for the newbie question, i will give this stuff a try when i get home and play the game.

Also is there a feature to this game where as over the years your car company gains a customer loyalty bonus, for example working directly with manafacturers in real life my self, many customers gain a loyalty to certain makes of cars! especially with the Honda brand for example for there 2nd to none reliability in there cars.

Like a fan base but for your car company as it grows over the years! Also i dont know if anyone has tried this but is there a way to be able to build your self a specialist car company for example like how Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini started, almost like before you start a new game you can choose to have a specialism for example, just being a mass produce Make like Ford, GM or the many Japanese car makers or a sports derived company like Jaguar, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

There are various image ratings that can be increased by different methods. You can see them under "Reports" in the "Sales Book" Smile

Yes, you can build specialist marques, just continue building the type of cars you want to specialize in. Your image rating in those fields should increase. Conversely if you ran something like a Ford, you can make a new Marque owned by Ford and stick all your super cars under that marque.

And no worries, I don't mind answering newbie questions~!

This doesn't work though Sad
It just says "blahblahblah", let's you choose the two car models in question, tantalizes you with a nonexistent text field for price, and then does.... wait for it.... nothing! when you press ok Tongue

It worked last time I used it. I'll try it again during my next play through.

I seem to have been too rash. It does work. It switches the produciton over to the new model in the same ammount of lines, and on the branches. I just saw that you could not write in the new price, and there was neither a message that something had happened, nor did the small menu close, and therefore assumed it did not work. Sorry about that.
