Actually it has been suggested before, but on the Steam forums.
Version 1.21 will have a complete redesign of the reports/charting system. The goal is to move the reports to html (webpages) and view the reports inside a web browser, inside the game. This will allow the data to be viewable and useable outside the game (also anywhere in the game.) Plus the added benefit of better looking reports, more data, etc.
I'm not sure how flexible the new system will be. But it will be more flexible than the current system.
From there, it may be possible to export to csv format for you to load into excel. But that's not a high priority.
