2.5.0.1 - Randomly Freezes

I just gained access to GearCity 2nd Gear and I'm finding that it freezes up somewhat - I can't select anything when it freezes up, but when I click Esc, that menu opens and closes if on a screen that allows it.  The only pattern I've noticed (and I don't think it has been the cause every time) is that, if my trackpad scrolls, the freezing occurs.  It's not been a problem in the public version of GearCity.  I can't figure out if there's any solution to this at this point, other than maybe trying with my scroll turned off.

If you have antivirus, antimalware, antiransomeware etc software, including Windows Defender, whitelist the 2nd Gear game files, particularly GearCityFBS1.exe.

If you still experience issues after that, switch rendering engines.

I whitelisted 2nd Gear game files (making sure I got the one mentioned) and switched rendering engines, but the issue still exists. I will say I had the most luck with turning my scroll off - I made it three in-game years before it froze up on me, whereas the game has been freezing up before I could even make my first part.

Beyond that, nothing has changed on the GUI or input side of things. The rendering systems have changed. But this sounds like a classic case of AV interference. You may want to disable any AV software you have and launch the game outside of Steam if you're playing the game via Steam.

Just to update, I turned off my antivirus and launched the game both in and out of Steam.  Same issue: the moment I scroll, I lose any ability to click.  Although, with a little bit more playing, I noticed I also maintain the ability to control the scrolling - I just lose the ability to click.  I've included the log files for when you return.  Thanks for trying to help!

The log files you linked contain a lot of errors. I suggest trying to do a clean reinstall of the game, as it's failing to load many of the game files.
