Give me back 3 days of my life! ;)

This extremly addictive game consuming all my time.

Things that making gameplay anoying:
- "End production" button is not removing model from branches. Removing model from branch in "office computer view" isnt working - you still have it in "map branch view".
- Shipping buttons... again for every new model - annoying.
- There should be button "set THIS model price for all branches with shipping cost added" - this would save my time alot.
- I spend 80% of time in "office computer view" adjusting production to demand levels. I wish to have all warehouse levels on the main screen in office. Any format, any shape, example:

(model) (first warehouse level)(+or- this month) (second warehouse level)(+or- this month)

VW Jetta 20+2 212+15 15+5
VW Golf 30+3 100-2 16-1

That would help me alot. I will let u know here if anything else annoys me... and if u care.

Thanks for this game guys. Good job!

God damn this game has come along!

Last time I posted here was 2013 or so, last time I played was 2014. I forgot the game was even in my Steam library. I boot it up today, and oh my goodness it's epic. Looking back at the steam forums, Eric has been omnipresent and hyperactive in development.

I'm astounded, I really am. I guess this sort of thing happens when you forget about a game for 3 years or so. haha

Small note to the developer about a great game
Posted by: Curse - 01-08-2016, 03:45 PM - Forum: Archive: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello Eric,

I saw a short review of GearCity at one of the YouTube channels I follow (tom.io) some days ago, was just slightly interested, then somehow came back a day after and got it anyway from Steam (because we're hunters and gatherers and I suck at hunting, of course).

Think those two screenshots tell everything about my thoughts about GearCity now. Purchased the game on 2nd of January 2016 but had no time and interest to play until 3rd of January.
On 8th of January afternoon I'm at about 83 hours played that includes about 5-6 hours of idle time. Thanks for that great game. Whatever happens, I already had lots of fun and therefor return on investment and I'm just in 1922 in a non-final version with my first non-tutorial company.

I thought as a very forum active indie developer you might be interested to hear how your great game addicts somebody massively. Wink

  Automobile Components Industry in India
Posted by: benjie86 - 12-30-2015, 05:16 AM - Forum: Archive: General Discussion - Replies (1)

The Indian auto-components industry has experienced healthy growth over the last few years. Some of the factors attributable to this include: a buoyant end-user market, improved consumer sentiment and return of adequate liquidity in the financial system. India has overtaken US to become the third largest steel producer in the world with a production of 14.56 Million Tonnes in first two months of the year, according to World Steel Associations and had a turnover of USD 38.5 Billion in 2014-15. India’s ‘Make in India’ campaign can help in encouraging local manufacturing of electronic-based components by offering fiscal incentives considering manufacturing of semi-conductors/electronics is generally capital intensive in nature.
Cost competitiveness and being geographically closer to key automotive markets like the ASEAN, Japan, Korea and Europe has led to India as a global hub for sourcing auto components. The investors are interested in producing steel in India as the resources are easily available and the cost of making steel is significantly lower than competitive nations. Another factor that influences an investors’ decision to invest in India is that several global Tier-I suppliers have announced plans to increase procurement from their Indian subsidiaries. The current investors like Bosch (Germany), Delphi (UK), Aisin Seiki Company (Japan), Graziano Trasmissioni (Italy), Denso (Japan), ZF (Germany), Valeo (France), FAG (Germany) and Magna (Canada) are likely to have a positive impact on other investors and the Government’s initiative “Make In India” will help increase productivity in this sector.
The Indian Automobile Industry is expected to reach USD 115 Billion by 2020-21 also India is expected to become the fourth largest automobiles producer globally by 2020 after China, US and Japan.

Does Team Focus Affect Vehicle Development?
Posted by: Waffles - 12-28-2015, 03:02 PM - Forum: Archive: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Basically what I'm trying to find out is if the money you put towards development in the race funding tab makes it cheaper to use advanced technology in your road cars or if it increases the amount of research points your team gets per quarter.

  DEMO Era
Posted by: zane94s - 12-25-2015, 10:28 PM - Forum: Archive: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi Eric! Great game Wink

The demo of gearcity limits us to 30 years of gameplay (which is logical). But, why did you choose the 1900-1929 as the era? There's nothing much happening in that era. Population is very small, car ratings are extremely hard (even in the easy mode)...

Why not make the demo in a different era instead? From 1950s to 1979 for instance? it's the SAME limit for the demo (29 years of gameplay).

OR, make the player select an year and let the game end after (29 years of gameplay).

I know this is far from your consideration but I hope that your think about it for a bit. red face Thanks

Random thought about companies and badges
Posted by: Holgin - 11-20-2015, 05:12 PM - Forum: Archive: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I know that it is not something that can be inserted into the game at this point, but I had a thought concerning the difference between a company and a marque or badge. Right now the game kind of treats them the same where in reality they are two separate concepts. For example, General Motors is more a company that does not sell models under the GM name, but rather under the different badges (Cadillac, Chevrolet, etc.). In my mind it makes more sense to split the two and have each have different functions - the company for the stock and business related aspects and the actual badge as what goes on the car and what measures the prestige. This way you might have a company with several badges where each badge has its own ratings for racing/performance, luxury, etc. I know the game is fairly developed at this point and I really do not expect this to happen, but it is something that might be considered if a GearCity2 is ever made.
Just my 2 cents on a Friday afternoon...
